Isla Athletic 香島躰育 Spring/ Summer 2024 basketball collection, Inspired by the iconic shutter gate patterns which have graced the storefronts of the city for decades.
Silver shutter gates (通花鐵閘) with carved patterns gained widespread popularity in Hong Kong in the 1950s to 1960s. Shophouses (前舖後居) were common during the time, artisan crafted gates with its intricate patterns provided security, but also allowed for natural airflow & served as a makeshift clock to their living spaces during closing hours. Shop owners repainting the gates with silver paint overlay before Chinese New Year as a way to track the passage of time.
The Logo Reversible Jersey comes in a subtle yet striking combination of Navy & Yellow, with the monogram pattern embroidered in a tonal navy to pay homage to the art of the shutter gates. The bright yellow mesh side features the classic "ISLA" basketball embroidery.
The Gym Shorts, crafted from lightweight polyester, share the same subtle shutter gate pattern running down the sides. Complementing this design, the shorts feature yellow embroidered accents, including the iconic "香" character & the "ISLA" basketball logo, alongside branded drawstrings.
The Isla Athletic 香島躰育 Spring/Summer 2024 collection also showcases the Hooper Tee, featuring the iconic hooper graphic also featured in the Leisure Shirt & Logo Athletic Tee. The collection is completed with the introduction of an Official Game Ball in size 7, crafted with high-quality Japanese synthetic leather.
